So that you can get the most from your membership in the squadron, we are offering you an opportunity to communicate your interest in future courses and other squadron activities. Indicating your priorities and preferences, will enable us to design programs that fulfill your needs and employ your assistance at the level you choose and in the positions and activities you indicate (and shape the management of our squadron).

A continuation on the Basic Boating Class. Basics on knots, rough water, boat handling, docking, man overboard .procedures, handling fires, weather, and more.
Piloting //

More about charts and charting, compass, plotting, position finding, etc. Expands greatly on the Piloting and Navigation section you had in the Basic Boating Course.
Advanced Piloting //

Tides, currents and their tables, speed-time-distance relationships, advanced bearing taking. All are used to predict and determine position in this course.
Junior Navigation //

The fundamentals of celestial navigation, importance of correct time and accurate plots; the use of sextants, nautical almanacs and navigational tables.
Navigation //

Traditional and modem celestial navigational methods and theory; astronomical phenomena, mathematical principles, and practical applications.

Marine Electronics

Learn more about radiotelephones, sounders, direction finders, radar, proper wiring, and theory of electrolysis. Qualify for a 3rd Class Operator's Permit.
Engine Maintenance //

Proper care of inboard, outboard, and stem drive engines, diagnose & repair.
Sail //

Both the basic and fine points of sailing are taught in several modules. You will learn practical methods, physical laws, and improve your technique.
Weather //

Study weather causes, forecasting and lessons best learned in the classroom.
Instructor Qualification //

A "must" for USPS instructors. Very useful in your career too.
Cruise Planning //

Whether for a weekend or a year, sail or power, this course covers all areas of the cruise and the planning needed prior to it.
